Art Direction, Layout & Design for "Gris-Gris" by Daniel Son & Wino Willy.
The visuals are heavily inspired by the Mardi Gras (carnival in New Orleans, Louisiana) Maroons or Black Masking Indians who honor their ancestors that were freed by Native Americans.
Wino Willy came up with the title and told me: „I live in New Orleans and have been privileged to witness traditional Root working practices. The title of our project is „Gris Gris“ (/ˈɡriːˌɡriː/) which is a protection charm used in voodoo. I want to lean into this psychedelic concept.“
