Ideation, Art Direction, Layout & Design for the repress artwork of „Noise Kandy 3: The Overdose“ by Rome Streetz.
One of Rome Streetz hardest & long time sold out projects is finally coming back on vinyl.
Rome Streetz and razor blades are inseparable – so when it came to creating the artwork for this repress, the reference almost chose itself: a coverflip of Judas Priest's „British Steel“. One of the most iconic album covers ever made. A hand. A blade. Nothing else needed. And with Rome being London-born, the nod to a British rock legend felt like the only logical move.
The ideation / concept work has already been done while creating the alternate (silver foil) artwork for NK5 in 2023 but I keep it a secret until I sent over a highlevel mockup to FXCKRXP end of last year for the NK3 repress.
To get the shot right, I ordered an oversized razor blade and linked up with the good brother @schnittstellenpass to recreate the original cover as closely as possible.
In post, I removed the manufacturer's engraving from the blade and replaced it with Noise Kandy typography, making the blade fully Rome's. From there it was about matching the lighting and texture of the original to nail that cold, timeless feel.
Thank you @fxckrxp for letting me contribute on this one 🖤
